Expedition cruises are for many, an opportunity to do something truly outside their comfort zone and go to truly off the beaten track destinations. With itineraries spanning the Artic to Antarctic, Kimberly Islands, Galapagos and Patagonia, just to name a few, how can your inner explorer not be curious?

Reasons to River Cruise

You’ve seen the commercials and maybe you’ve even known a person or two that has done a river cruise, but maybe you’re still skeptical about why you would want to choose this option over the more well known sea cruise products. Here I break down some of the top reasons why you should consider a river cruise for your next adventure.

Tantalizing Tanzania Part 4: Ruaha

For some reason I can’t quite explain, our time in Ruaha was and remains my favorite part of this trip. Maybe it is the seclusion and isolation that you get in being in a park that is both considerably larger than the Serengeti, while also being much less visited than its famous counterpart. Being so remote really puts the wild heart at peace as your experience of being at one in nature and the universe becomes visceral.

Tantalizing Tanzania Part 3: Serengeti, Loliondo Game Conservancy & Mara River Crossing

For our trip into this huge national park, we chose to stage within the game conservancy in a Northern region that borders the Masai Mara lands of Kenya. We like to dedicate at least a part of any safari trip to a private concession for a multitude of reasons related to experiences you cannot have inside most national parks, not the least of which, is the option to off road for special sightings.

Tantalizing Tanzania Part 2: Ngorongoro Crater

Ngorongoro Crater is a very unique landscape set and the world's largest unbroken caldera in the world, where the majority of the animal population is resident and doesn’t participate in any migratory pattern. It is known for its amazing abundance of wildlife and diversity, as well as, having several different ecosystems all contained into this collapsed volcano.

Tantalizing Tanzania Part 1: An Introduction

Picture rolling verdant hills in the horizon studded with abundant exotic wildlife… Not exactly what comes to mind when you think of the Serengeti, is it? At least it wasn’t for me. I envisioned windswept yellow and red grassy savannah for as far as the eyes could see with thousands of wildebeests plodding along together in their endless search of rain as the followed The Great Migration roadmap.

New Zealand’s South Island – Plunge Into Planning A Road Trip!

New Zealand was one of our more unstructured trips, and we approached it more as a road trip into the unknown, embracing the nomadic spirit. While that was fun, those of you that know me personally understand it’s not really my style, as I am a planner through and through, even though I do have a gypsy heart. That is what inspired me to write this post. I feel like a little structure and knowledge ahead of time helps make the experience so much better.

Sublime South African Safari

No doubt, my husband and I have been blessed to have had some truly incredible travel experiences, but none to date have quite rocked our world in the same way that going on our first safari did. There is truly nothing quite like it, and until you’ve been, you really can’t understand what that means. Even as I will do my best to describe this experience succinctly, because I could literally spend a full day talking about it, my advice to anyone interested in traveling, is to make it a point to get the firsthand experience. This is the trip that should be at the top of any adventure traveler’s bucket list.

Blame it on Mexico! (Or How to Survive a Hurricane with Lots of Drinking)

So being from Texas, I have made countless trips to Mexico; Its’ border, its’ capital city and of course, the Yucatan peninsula and all its great hotspots like Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel and Isla Mujeres. While I wouldn’t say I am an expert on travel there, I feel like I have some relatively good advice on things to plan for when headed down south for a beach vacation in particular. Even so, this last trip caught me by surprise. And with its many near fiascos, it had come to a point where I felt like I might be in my own type of Truman Show, where things kept happening to the point of comedy.
